Robert Alda was an American actor and director who had a successful career in film, television, and theater. He was best known for his role as George Gershwin in the 1945 biopic Rhapsody in Blue. He was also known for his roles in the films The Purple Heart, The Man with the Golden Arm, and The Godfather Part II.
