A distinguished poet, novelist, critic, and teacher, Robert Penn Warren won virtually every major award given to writers in the United States and was the only person to receive a Pulitzer Prize in both fiction (once) and poetry (twice).
WARREN, Robert Penn. Romanziere, critico e poeta americano, nato a Guthrie, Kentucky, il 24 aprile 1905. Studiò presso la Vanderbilt University e da giovane fu attivo membro del movimento dei Fugitives e Agrarians.
Poeta e scrittore statunitense (Guthrie, Kentucky, 1905 - Fairfield, Vermont, 1989); prof. universitario, insegnò (1962-73) alla Yale University. Aderì al gruppo dei Fugitive poets, di cui diresse la rivista, e partecipò alla stesura del manifesto dei Southern Agrarians, I'll take my stand (1930).
