Born Roberto Valverde in Cali, Colombia, in 1955, he was given the nickname "Robo" by his bandmates in Black Flag for his robotic drumming style. From 1978 to 1981, Robo was the drummer for US punk band Black Flag, performing on the EPs 'Jealous Again', 'Six Pack', and their first full-length album 'Damaged'.
