Rogue Male is a 1976 British television film starring Peter O'Toole, based on Geoffrey Household's 1939 novel Rogue Male. Made by the BBC , it was adapted by Frederic Raphael , directed by Clive Donner and also stars Alastair Sim (in his last film role), John Standing and Harold Pinter .

25 gen 2019 · Broadcast on BBC2 on 22 November 1976, Rogue Male follows the misfortunes of sporting aristocrat Sir Robert Hunter (Peter O’Toole). On a suspiciously random trip to the continent, he is caught aiming his rifle at Adolf Hitler (Michael Sheard) and only misses by chance.
Set in early 1939, before the beginning of WWII, Rogue Male stars Peter O'Toole as Sir Robert Hunter, an English aristocrat who attempts to assassinate Hitler after the Nazis have executed his wife. Unfortunately, he is discovered and harshly tortured by an SS officer before being left for dead.

Overview. In 1939, Sir Robert Thorndyke takes aim at Adolf Hitler with a high powered rifle, but the shot misses its mark. Captured and tortured by the Gestapo and left for dead, Sir Robert makes his way back to England where he discovers the Gestapo has followed him.
george_chabot 10 December 2006. Rogue Male is a superior chase film with a superb characterization by Peter O'Toole, who occupies about 80% of the screen time. Absolutely top-notch direction, cinematography, and editing and a respectable, not overlong, 103 minute running time.
