The punk rock duo brought Jennifer Finch on board as bass guitarist and Roy Koutsky on drums. Finch, with the strongest Californian roots of the four, connected the band with an even wider network, including Brett Gurewitz of Epitaph Records where the band recorded their first demo.

Things were solidified in the mid-1980s with the addition of bassist Jennifer Finch and drummer Roy Koutsky. L7’s self-titled debut followed in 1988, before Koutsky quit. Anne Anderson then joined as a touring drummer before being replaced by self-taught Chicago-born punk Dee Plakas, plucked by L7 from her LA trio Pirate Radio.
The band's early lineup consisted of bassist Jennifer Finch and drummer Roy Koutsky. After their debut album, the band recruited Demetra Plakas as their permanent drummer.
With shouts of “Let’s Rock” and — gasp! — a boy by the name of Roy Koutsky in the drum seat, the L7 album is a heady but largely inconsequential introduction; it’s all brute force and speed, grunge as a sheer sonic description.
It is the band's only album with drummer Roy Koutsky. The album's first track, "Bite the Wax Tadpole," refers to the legend that this is a Chinese transliteration of "Coca-Cola." Critical reception
