Russ Barenberg (born October 8, 1950) is an American bluegrass musician. Biography. Barenberg began playing guitar at age 13, taking lessons from Alan Miller, whose brother, John Miller, Barenberg would later play with. His style was heavily influenced by the flatpicking technique of Clarence White.
Acoustic guitarist Russ Barenberg is known as one of the most melodic instrumentalists in contemporary acoustic music, and his compositions are among the finest the genre has to offer.

Their popular 1993 recording, Skip, Hop & Wobble, influenced and whole new generation of acoustic musicians. In 1996 Russ worked with Douglas, fiddler Darol Anger and Los Angeles-based music producer Snuffy Walden to create the soundtrack for Homecoming, a film starring Anne Bancroft.
