Russell David Johnson (November 10, 1924 – January 16, 2014) was an American actor. He played Professor Roy Hinkley in Gilligan's Island and Marshal Gib Scott in Black Saddle.
Russell Johnson (1924-2014) was a versatile actor who appeared in Westerns, Sci-Fi and comedy shows. He also served in World War II as a bombardier and received the Purple Heart. He is best known for playing the Professor on Gilligan's Island (1964).

16 gen 2014 · NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Russell Johnson, who became known to generations of TV fans as “The Professor,” the fix-it man who kept his fellow “Gilligan’s Island” castaways supplied with gadgets, has died. He was 89. Johnson died Thursday morning at his home in Washington State of natural causes, said his agent, Mike Eisenstadt.
