This course involves students investigating the properties of different hard materials and learning a range of different practical skills while working through a series of small design-based and practical projects. These projects include: Students designing, testing and racing a co2 powered dragster.

Just over 20% of students identify as Māori and 11% as Pacific. Asian student numbers continue to grow. Since the October 2010 ERO report, a number of key staff changes occurred.
