Saratov Academic Youth Theater named after Yu.P. Kiselev (TUZ Kiseleva) is a unique phenomenon in Russian culture. It is the world’s first theater for children opened on October 4, 1918. From 1943 to 1996 USSR People’s actor, laureate of the various Russian and International awards Yury Petrovich Kiselev led the theater.
In 1991, with the fall of the Soviet Union, it changed its name to Ivan Slonov Dramatic Theater. Nowadays, it is one of the oldest and most famous theaters in Russia. Its repertoire consists of both classical plays and contemporary authors.
Saratov is home to a number of cultural and educational institutions, including the Saratov Drama Theater, Saratov Conservatory, Radishchev Art Museum, Saratov State Technical University, and Saratov State University.
