2 giorni fa · The first Lithuanian state was established in the 13th century and by the end of the 14th century, Lithuania controlled much of Central Europe. Lithuania was joined with Poland for much of the 16th to 18th centuries, until the partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth by Russia, Prussia and Austria-Hungary.
Many historians see that prerogative, known as liberum veto, as one of the causes of the downfall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Robert Biedroń, one of the leaders of The Left, declared that “in Europe today a liberum veto is [also] in force”, allowing single member states to block policies.
The war, however, goes far better than planned - vast areas of southern Ukraine are seized by the crown and given to Ruthenia to administrate. The truly important forts and ports of Crimea and Kafa, however, are not taken. Still, this drastically slows down any Tatar raids on the PLC, again bringing in more stability and population growth than IRL.
