I Giochi della XXIV Olimpiade (in coreano: 제24회 올림픽경기대회, Jeisipsahoe Ollimpiggyeong-gidaehoe), noti anche come Seul 1988, si sono svolti a Seul, in Corea del Sud, da sabato 17 settembre a domenica 2 ottobre 1988. Furono le prime Olimpiadi svoltesi quasi interamente in settembre.

Quella sera del 17 settembre 1988 sfilarono nella stadio olimpico di Seul le bandiere di 160 paesi (un paio di questi però, come Brunei, senza rappresentanza di atleti): praticamente tutti i Comitati nazionali olimpici riconosciuti dal CIO, con la sola eccezione di Nord Corea, Cuba, Nicaragua, Albania, Etiopia e Seychelles.

Il torneo di calcio della XXIV Olimpiade fu il diciannovesimo torneo olimpico ed il decimo ad essere disputato dalle nazionali olimpiche. Si svolse dal 17 settembre al 1º ottobre 1988 in cinque città ( Seul, Taegu, Pusan, Gwangju e Daejeon) e vide la vittoria per la seconda volta dell' Unione Sovietica .
