Shelly McCauley Briggs (known as Shelly Johnson during her first marriage) was a waitress at the Double R Diner, which was owned by Norma Jennings, a friend and motherly figure to Shelly, who dropped out of high school to marry trucker Leo Johnson, who had swept her off her feet by lavishing her with attention.
