4 mag 1990 · Overview. As a result of a misdiagnosis, Detective Burt Simpson is told he has just weeks to live. He gains a new respect for his life and loved ones but learns that in order for his wife, Carolyn, and son, Dougie, to collect any insurance money, he must be killed in the line of duty.
When death whispers its invitation to Burt Simpson, he is a cop with less than a week to go before retirement. He doesn't want to take any chances with his short time, and so he wears his bulletproof vest every time he leaves the station.
One of the most underrated comedy films of the 1990s, SHORT TIME is an affable blend of comedy, action, and drama built around a terrific lead performance by Dabney Coleman (9 TO 5).
Nearing retirement, Dabney Coleman finds that he has a disease that will kill him within days. He then finds that his life insurance only pays off if he is killed in the line of duty. In order to leave something to his family, Coleman becomes supercop, trying his best to get killed.
