Years active. 1975–present. Sigtryggur Baldursson (born 2 October 1962) is an Icelandic drummer and singer. [1] Sigtryggur was born in Norway to Icelandic parents. He was a founding member of the Sugarcubes and has been a longtime fixture on the Icelandic punk and alternative music scene.
10 nov 2018 · The Current. Known as one the godfathers of the Iceland music scene, Sigtryggur "Siggi" Baldursson was a member of well known Icelandic group, The Sugarcubes. Baldursson sat down with Mark Wheat this weekend as part of the Iceland Airwaves Festival to discuss Iceland's significant musical exports.
For most of their career, the band consisted of Björk Guðmundsdóttir (vocals, keyboards), Einar Örn Benediktsson (vocals, trumpet), Þór Eldon (guitar), Bragi Ólafsson (bass), Margrét "Magga" Örnólfsdóttir (keyboards) and Sigtryggur Baldursson (drums). Previous members included Friðrik Erlingsson (guitar) and Einar Melax (keyboards).

Prior to that day, the members of the group had been in a variety of Icelandic bands. Björk had the longest career out of any of the members. By 1984, Björk, Einar Örn Benediktsson and Siggi Baldursson had joined forces, forming Kukl with keyboardist Einar Melax.
