Sultanen skrev samtidigt ett brev till Karl XII om att en turkisk-tatarisk styrka på omkring 10 000 man skulle eskortera honom hem genom Polen, och tillade att ifall kungen skulle vägra att resa så skulle han tvingas med våld.
