Beanpole. Sean Lennon’s Chimera label is unearthing lost music from Beanpole, a demented recording project featuring performances from Primus members Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde, and Derek Greenberg and Adam Gates of Geffen-signed alt-pop group Spent Poets.
The Spent Poets (1989-1993) While intermittently writing music with keyboardist John Berg (who briefly played in Monkey Rhythm) Gates started working with multi-instrumentalist Matt Winegar (who came to Gates’ attention after being recommended by his friend Les Claypool).
"Too Many Puppies" is the first Primus song Les Claypool ever wrote. "You Can't Kill Michael Malloy" is an excerpt from the Spent Poets song of the same name. The album's producer, Matt Winegar, who also recorded and produced Suck on This, was a member of the group, and a clip is featured just before "The Toys Go Winding Down".
