1 nov 1995 · St. Mary's College. St. Mary's College at Dallas, a college for women, was founded by Alexander C. Garrett, bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Dallas. Construction began in 1886 on a site on Ross Avenue, but there were interruptions caused by lack of funds, and the building was not completed until the spring of 1889.
In addition, the cathedral houses a collection of Victorian era paintings, many of which were gifts to Saint Mary's Episcopal College for Women, and feature Saint Mary. In October 2013, the Justus Sundermann Art Gallery opened which features exhibits of local artists.
St. Mary's administers more than $1.5 million annually in tuition assistance based on demonstrated need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). Financial aid grants are available for PK-12th grade students (not available for St. Mary's Place applicants).
