Stuart Saves His Family is a 1995 American comedy film directed by Harold Ramis based on a series of Saturday Night Live sketches from the early to mid-1990s. The film follows the adventures of would-be self-help guru Stuart Smalley, a creation of comedian Al Franken, as he attempts to save both his deeply troubled family and his low-rated public-access television show.

26 mag 1995 · I must confess that I went into "Stuart Saves His Family" prepared to dislike it intensely. Generally I'm able to avoid such preconceived prejudices, but being familiar with Al Franken's "Saturday Night Live" character Stuart Smalley, I was not looking forward to more than 90 minutes of his whining and smarmy self-help advice, however satirically intended it may be.
Affable but unsatisfying. Not enough jokes to be a comedy, but not distinct or developed enough to fully function as a drama. Successfully defies expectations, but doesn't have a strong foundation for building its own thing instead. A self-help advocate struggles to put his dysfunctional family in its place.
