All of Sweden's entries for Eurovision have been selected through Melodifestivalen, with the exception of its first entry in 1958, which was internally selected by SR.

Den skiljeregel som infördes sade då att bara ett land per år kan vinna och ifall fler än två länder skulle hamna på samma totalsumma på förstaplatsen skulle en ny omröstning genomföras mellan dessa bidrag för att kora en vinnare.
