La tarantella, tradizionale danza popolare dell’Italia meridionale, deve il suo nome proprio alla Lycosa tarantula. Anticamente si credeva che questo ballo, con i suoi movimenti frenetici, aiutasse i “tarantolati” (i morsicati dalla tarantola) a sudare ed eliminare le tossine del veleno.
