The Alice Ottley School was an independent all-girls' school in Worcester that existed under this name – referencing its first headmistress – between 1883 and 2007 before it merged with the Worcester Royal Grammar School. [1] History. The Alice Ottley School was founded by Canon William Butler of Wantage and Alice Ottley in 1883.

The AOOEs’. Website. The Alice Ottleians and Old Elizabethans’ Association is the organisation for ex-pupils and staff of the Alice Ottley School and The RGS Worcester family of Schools. Membership is free to past pupils, staff and Governors of all of these Schools.
This marked the beginning of RGS The Grange. The Senior School moved to co-education in 2002, with the first intake of girls joining the Sixth Form. Entry across all year groups swiftly followed, and in 2007 the neighbouring girls-only Alice Ottley School, which had been a landmark within the City for 124 years, merged with RGS Worcester.
In the Alice Ottley Building, formerly the main school building for the Alice Ottley School, there are two more halls: Cobham Hall and Main Hall. Main Hall is the school's dining hall, with views over a lawn and a stained glass window commemorating Miss Margaret Spurling, headmistress of the Alice Ottley School from 1912 to 1934. Alice Ottley (23 March 1840 – 18 September 1912) was an English educator and the first head of what came to be called The Alice Ottley School in Worcester . Life. Ottley was born in 1840 at Acton, Suffolk, where her father was the vicar. Her parents were Rev. Lawrence Ottley and Elizabeth Bickersteth Ottley.
