Se dagli Uncle Tupelo, padri putativi del cosidetto alternative country erano discesi (oltre ai Son Volt) gli eclettici Wilco, che dall’originale country rock si erano aperti a contaminazioni con il pop dei Beatles ed il folk, da una costola dei Wilco si formano gli Autumn Defense.
Il nuovo album dei The Autumn Defense si intitola Fifth. Non è solo un side-project di due delle anime dei Wilco, ma un gruppo vero e proprio che - con classe - strizza l'occhio agli anni '60
