In 2016, after the first, breathtaking performance of The Drover’s Wife play at Sydney’s Belvoir Theatre, when audience members flocked to Leah and I, desperate to know what happened to Molly and Danny next, I knew with certainty it could be a film.
At the AWGIE Awards in August 2017, The Drover's Wife received the Major Award across all writing for performance genres, the Stage award and the David Williamson Prize for excellence in writing for Australian theatre. Immer wieder sind es Männer, die hier zu einer Bedrohung werden und gegen die sich zu wehren gelernt hat. Dabei sind vor allem ihre Kinder der Anlass für ihren Unabhängigkeitskampf.
