We choose to end outdated transport that emits toxic fumes, remove pollution from the air using both technology and nature, and eliminate the burning of fossil fuels, choosing 100% renewable energy for everyone – from big cities to rural villages. Five winners will be selected by The Earthshot Prize Council and announced at our next Awards Ceremony, where they will receive a one-of-a-kind award and a £1m grant to scale the impact of their winning solution.
Connections Made. Thanks to an introduction by The Earthshot Prize, Mukuru Clean Stoves forged a new partnership with the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, worth just under $1m (£0.8m). The money will be used on an R&D project to develop malaria-fighting briquettes for its stoves: an innovative solution with the potential to save even more lives.
17 set 2021 · Over 750 nominations – far more than anticipated for The Earthshot Prize’s first year – were screened as part of an independent assessment process run by Deloitte, the Prize’s implementation partner, who ensured that all nominations were assessed fairly and thoroughly, by an experienced sustainability team.
