It's more of an affectionate spoof on 1980's "summer camp" slasher films, spinning the familiar into a knowing world of "meta" commentary.

Un angle d’attaque un peu absurde abordé très frontalement qui pousse autant le film vers l’hommage aux anciennes scream queen s que vers un parcours cathartique, une sorte de cauchemar éveillé qui aidera Max à accepter que sa mère ne sera plus jamais qu’une image.
