Trama. Tutti gli Scott si trovano a Filadelfia per conoscere la famiglia che ha adottato il figlio di Peggy, che purtroppo è morto di scarlattina così come la madre adottiva. A New York, Oscar, depresso per la rottura con John Adams e per l'indifferenza di Gladys al suo corteggiamento, viene aggredito dopo un incontro con un uomo in un bar.
