More like a Picasso bummer for original director Serge Bourguignon (of the Oscar-winning SUNDAYS AND CYBÈLE, who was canned), Ray Bradbury (adapting his own short story under a pseudonym), and Warner Bros., which recut it then dumped it on TV, bypassing theaters.

A dreamy Summery postcard of a film. Flimsy plot but I just loved how sixties it was and how it took me away to France in that era as the lovers venture around in an attempt to find the painter himself. The psychedelic picasso animation sections are pretty wild too. Will save this one to watch whenever Im in a bad mood just to cheer me up.

The film charts the journey of a young couple to the home of Pablo Picasso. The film starts as a gentle travelogue but it is not long before some of Picasso’s disturbing imagery is thrust upon the screen.
Albert Finney and Yvette Mimieux portray the Smiths in a stylish (split screens, freeze frames, flash cuts) psychedelic-era groove of a film that's also a sun-drenched travelogue and an artist's showcase whose varied palette includes lively animated sequences of Picasso's work. The Smiths are taking their chances.
13 ott 2014 · While the complete work runs just a brief 17 minutes, all of them feature preciously beautiful, wistfully nostalgic music, amongst the most attractive in film score history. To fill the original Warner Bros. album, 30 minutes of his powerful score for the 1969 Robert Sallin adventure The Picasso Summer, with Albert Finney, Yvette Mimieux, entitled 'The Picasso Suite', were included on the record.
