The Prince of the Pacific ( Le prince du Pacifique) is a 2000 French-Spanish adventure movie directed by Alain Corneau. In 1918 a French Navy ship pesters the tropical island in the South Pacific, inhabited by the Hiva tribe, great warriors of the past. Captain Alfred de Morsac ( Thierry Lhermitte) has a mission to recruit tribesmen in French Army.

In 1914 a French captain (Thierry Lhermitte) tries to arrest a sadistic military governor but ends up in the brig with a small-time con man (Patrick Timsit).

A man tries to deliver a package to Morsac on one of the islands in French Polynesia. He is informed that Morsac is long dead and then learns the strange tale of how Morsac became the legendary saviour of the island from its tyrannical French governor with the help of the young Prince Reia.
