Jojo Goh (Monique) Il nostro giudizio. The Sleep Curse è un film del 2017, diretto da Herman Yau. Per chi conosce e apprezza Herman Yau, non siamo tornati ai bei tempi di The Untold Story o di Ebola Syndrome. Mister Yau ora ha vent’anni in più e una visione del cinema molto più elastica.

Not yet released in Hong Kong cinemas, The Sleep Curse offers aficionados of Hong Kong film’s harder edge a now-uncommon return to the world of over-18s Category III horror. Yau and his team have even pushed beyond boundaries with their violence and gore: the picture screening in Udine is the director’s cut, longer than the version that will eventually reach Hong Kong’s movie houses.
Plot. The film alternates between the years 1942 and 1990, between a family, with neuroscientist Lam Sik-ka, and his father Lam Sing, who was a translator for the Japanese occupational forces in Hong Kong. Sing has hidden the fact that in his past, he did not save a comfort woman from persecution by the occupiers.
