The Tizona sword while on exhibit in the Museo del Ejército (Salón de Reinos) in Madrid. Tizona (also Tizón) is the name of one of the swords carried by Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, El Cid, according to the Cantar de Mio Cid. The name of the second sword of El Cid is Colada.
María Sol and Elvira, daughters of the Cid, are tortured and abandoned by their husbands, the brothers Fernando and Diego Carrión. King Alfonso of Castile orders the husbands to pay a fine, surrender their swords, and fight the Cid's knights to the death.

It seemed to be an Italian or Spanish attempt to exploit the big Cid movie and the vogue for historical costume dramas of the time. Whilst interesting to watch it hardly stands out as an epic film. The characterisations are weak and superficial, the sword fights are lame and over-contrived and, boy, are there a lot of horses.
Synopsis by Sandra Brennan. In this Spanish adventure, the trouble begins when it is revealed that the ruler of Catalonia has been replaced by his evil twin brother. Unfortunately for him, the despot forgot about his murdered brother's son--the rightful heir. He enlists the assistance of the Castillian soldiers and reclaims his throne.
