The result was Goodbye Again and the critical response at the time was that it did not measure up to Not Only... But Also.
The Very Best Of Goodbye Again is accompanied by a series of illuminating interviews from producer Shaun O'Riordan that gives something of an insight into how the shows were made and the state of mind of the stars at the time. He paints a picture of perfectionist Dudley Moore being frustrated by Peter Cook, who took a more relaxed view.
Perkins won the Best Actor Award at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival and Anatole Litvak was nominated for the Palme d'Or. [10] It was the 25th most popular movie of the year in France. [2] Stanley Kauffmann of The New Republic described Goodbye Again as a "syprupy saga."

A two-hour compilation of material from the four shows was released on DVD in 2005 under the title The Very Best of Goodbye Again. Except sketches recorded outside on film, all other original material is presented in black and white.
