Theodor Osterkamp (* 15. April 1892 in Rölsdorf [1]; † 2. Januar 1975 in Baden-Baden) war ein erfolgreicher Jagdflieger im Ersten Weltkrieg in der Kaiserlichen Marine und im Zweiten Weltkrieg Generalleutnant der Luftwaffe der Wehrmacht. Der mit Manfred von Richthofen befreundete Osterkamp errang im Ersten Weltkrieg 32 Luftsiege.
Died: 02 January 1975. Place of Death: Baden-Baden. The Prussian army rejected him for health reasons but Osterkamp joined the Freiwilliges Marine Flieger Corps and became the German navy's highest scoring ace. When the war ended, he went east to fight the Bolsheviks. At the age of 43, Osterkamp was back in uniform again, flying for the Luftwaffe.
Theodor Osterkamp was born in Düren, Rhineland, Germany. He joined the German Navy Air Corps ( Marinefliegerkorps) on 14 Aug 1914 and entered WW1 as an air observer; in this role he was the first German pilot to fly a land-based aircraft to England, United Kingdom on a reconnaissance mission.
