While he certainly wrote a handful of enduring classics as a member of the Byrds, it’s surprising that Gene Clark has never been given the recognition for his solo work that the music so obviously deserves.

Gene Clark was one of the Byrds' original members, and the first to quit back in 1966. He died in 1991, right after the Byrds entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
