Thomas Grey, Marquess of Dorset, died in London on 20 September 1501, aged about 46, and was buried in the collegiate church of Astley, Warwickshire. His widow married Grey's cousin, Henry Stafford, later Earl of Wiltshire. Marriages and issue. His mother sought to make provision for him by marriage to wealthy heiresses.

Grey was the only son of Thomas, Lord Grey of Groby, and inherited his title from his grandfather. His mother was Lady Dorothy Bourchier, daughter of Edward Bourchier, 4th Earl of Bath . Grey took some part in resisting the arbitrary actions of James II , and was arrested in July 1685.

Thomas Grey, 1st Marquess of Dorset (1457 – September 20, 1501) was the eldest son of Elizabeth Woodville and consequently a stepson of Edward IV of England. Thomas was Elizabeth's son by her first marriage, to Sir John Grey. He was created Marquess of Dorset on April 18, 1475 and summoned to Parliament on November 15, 1482.
