Tiedemann Giese (Danzica, 1º giugno 1480 – Lidzbark, 23 ottobre 1550) è stato un vescovo cattolico e teologo polacco, vescovo di Chełmno (Kulm) e in seguito di Varmia. Il suo interesse per la matematica, l'astronomia e la teologia lo portò ad essere mentore di importanti giovani studiosi, tra cui Niccolò Copernico .

Tiedemann Giese (1 June 1480 – 23 October 1550), was Bishop of Kulm (Chełmno) first canon, later Prince-Bishop of Warmia (Ermland) whose interest in mathematics, astronomy, and theology led him to mentor a number of important young scholars, including Copernicus.

19 feb 2023 · Spinto dall’entusiasmo e sostenuto dagli amici dell’astronomo, tra cui il già citato Tiedemann Giese, Retico riuscì a convincere Copernico a dargli il permesso di scrivere e pubblicare la Narratio prima. Questa esposizione semplificata delle ricerche dello studioso polacco apparve a Danzica nel 1540.
