18 ago 2019 · Nonostante l’apparenza il film di Kurosawa ha molto di fantascientifico, già restando al titolo, To the Ends of the Earth, in questo scivolare verso un universo parallelo, verso un’altra esistenza, attraverso portali affollati di ombre, come un mercato, o i vicoli bui della città sprofondata nella notte, entrambi limiti dell’ignoto.

I first saw To The Ends of the Earth sleeping on a friends sofa; bleary-eyed in the early hours of the morning I happened to tune in part way through, and was immediately hooked. To a teenager who hadn't travelled anywhere much except in the pages of Tintin, Dick Powell's globe-trotting detective hunt for a gang of narcotics smugglers was immediately compelling and completely enthralling.
