Thomas Michael John Kempinski (24 March 1938 – 2 August 2023) was an English playwright and actor best known for his 1980 play Duet for One, which was a major success in London and New York City, and much revived since. Kempinski also wrote the screenplay for the film version of Duet for One.

Tom Kempinski was born on 24 March 1938 in Hendon, London, England, UK. He was an actor and writer, known for Moon Zero Two (1969), Moonbase 3 (1973) and Gumshoe (1971). He was married to Sarah Tingay, Frances de la Tour and Margaret Nolan. He died on 2 August 2023.

Duet for One is a 1986 British drama film adapted from the play, a two-hander by Tom Kempinski, about a world-famous concert violinist named Stephanie Anderson who is suddenly struck with multiple sclerosis. It is set in London, and directed by Andrei Konchalovsky.
