Utaybah ibn Abī Lahab ( Arabic: عُتَيْبَة ابْنِ أَبِيّ لَهَب) in pre-Islamic Arabia, was the son of Abū Lahab. He planned to marry Muhammad 's third daughter Umm Kulthum, but canceled the engagement on his father's request. He was Muhammad's cousin. Biography. ʿUtbah ibn Abī Lahab (Arabic: عتبة بن أبي لهب) was a first cousin of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Biography. Born in Mecca, Utbah was the eldest son of Abu Lahab ibn Abdul-Muttalib and Umm Jamil bint Harb. For several years, his family lived next door to Muhammad and Khadija.
This man Abu Lahab was one of the uncles of the Messenger of Allah.His name was `Abdul-`Uzza bin Abdul-Muttalib. His surname was Abu `Utaybah and he was only called Abu Lahab because of the brightness of his face. He used to often cause harm to the Messenger of Allah . He hated and scorned him and his religion.
14 ago 2005 · First she married ‘Utaybah ibn Abi Lahab, who divorced her before consummating the marriage as his brother ‘Utbah did with Ruqayyah (may Allaah be pleased with her). When Ruqayyah died, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married Umm Kalthoom to ‘Uthmaan (may Allaah be pleased with him).

Together with his wife, Abu Lahab was one of the most hostile opponents of Prophet Muhammad and the ideas he propagated. Rabi’ah, son of `Abbad, recalls:
He supplicated for Ibn 'Abbas that Allah grant him understanding of the religion and it was so. He supplicated against 'Utaybah ibn Abi Lahab that Allah cause a dog from amongst His dogs to overcome him and he was killed by a lion at az-Zarqa' .
