He studied filmmaking at FAMU from 1951 to 1956, and began directing feature films since the early 1960s. Václav Vorlíček (* 3. Juni 1930 in Prag; † 5. Februar 2019 ebenda) war ein tschechischer Filmregisseur. Jako asistent režie nastoupil do filmového studia Barrandov a záhy se vypracoval na místo pomocného režiséra.

Václav Vorlíček, director of one of the most iconic Czech films ever made and known as the ‘master of the Czech fairy tale’, passed away in Prague earlier this week. He was 88. Vorlíček was born in the Czech capital in 1930, and would go on to study directing at Prague film academy FAMU in the early 1950s.
