It provides you with membership of the MCR which is a community of over 200 postgraduate students, all of whom are members of Van Mildert College.

14 feb 2023 · Van Mildert students number among the most frequent and generous givers in Durham, not just in charitable endeavours, but in sport, drama, outreach and student politics. Although originally founded as a male-only college, women postgraduates were admitted in 1967, shortly followed by female undergraduates in 1972: an early sign of the college’s progressive and forward-thinking nature.
The Mildert Feather. By the lake, set against the beautiful Jubilee Garden, is the Mildert Feather. A very special sculpture by the Danish artist Erik Heide, it is a rotating metal mallard feather created in 2015 to mark the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Van Mildert College and the achievements of the College, its students past and present, and its staff.
