The Republican stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan named Dinamo in past. In 1931 Dinamo sports organization asked the City Council of Armenian Commissars for a permission to build a football stadium in Yerevan. Thus, 16 hectares of land in the center of Yerevan was given for the construction of the stadium in the centre of Yerevan.
Republican Stadion – stadium description. The de facto national stadium of Armenia dates back to early Soviet Union days, remaining in operation since 1935. At that time it was Yerevan's main sporting venue, earning its historical, highly decorative western facade in 1953.

Republican Stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan. The Republican Stadium after Vazgen Sargsyan was built in 1933-1935. It was designed by architect Hovhannes Margaryan, then expanded in 1953 by architect Koryun Hakobyan. It was completely reconstructed and renovated from 1999 to 2008. 1935-1999 it was known as "Dinamo" stadium.
