Volodar Glebovich of Minsk was a prince of Minsk belonging to the so-called Polotsk dynasty (or the Polotski) after the city and the principality Polotsk from where it originated. He was the son of Gleb Vseslavich of Minsk (death 1119) and Anastasia, a daughter of Yaropolk Izyaslavich .

This period saw the principality's relationship with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania grow, and in 1164, Rostislav's brother, Volodar Glebovich with the help of the Lithuanians, won an important battle against the prince of Polotsk, which affirmed the principalities independence from Polotsk.

Volodar Glebovich of Minsk opposes Vseslav with an army which consists of a large number of Lithuanians. Vseslav is defeated and flees to Vitebsk. After being accepted by the Polotsk veche , Volodar pursues until he learns that Roman Rostislavich, prince of Smolensk, is coming to the aid of Vitebsk.
