  6. Walter Donaldson (born Feb. 15, 1893, Brooklyn, N.Y., U.S.—died July 15, 1947, Santa Monica, Calif., U.S.) was a U.S. lyricist, arranger, pianist, and prolific composer of popular songs for stage productions and films. Donaldson began his career as a pianist for a music publisher.

  7. At the onset of the Depression in 1929, Walter Donaldson left for Hollywood where Samuel Goldwyn and Florenz Ziegfeld were producing the film version of Whoopee. He and lyricist Gus Kahn added a couple new songs to the score, including “My Baby Just Cares For Me” which helped make Eddie Cantor a movie star.
