Washington-Liberty High School, formerly known as Washington-Lee High School, is a public high school in the Arlington Public Schools district in Arlington, Virginia, covering grades 9–12. Its attendance area serves the central third of Arlington, and it also offers the International Baccalaureate Program countywide.

Washington-Lee High School opened in 1925. Since that time, over 40000 young men and women have passed through the halls. The building itself has changed drastically over the years, going through at least four major building phases.
Washington-Liberty, Arlington’s First High School. As the school nears its centenary in 2025, it carries on the legacy of Washington-Lee High School, the school’s name from 1925-2019. The brief history below and the adjacent historical timeline sections illustrate the last 96 years of continuity and change.
Washington-Lee High School History: 1960 – 79 Milestones In the 60s and 70s, W-L reached new academic and athletic heights, as its reputation continued to grow both nationally and internationally. Integration was successful—student-driven in many respects. W-L became a model for other high schools across the state.
