Where Spring Comes Late (家族, Kazoku) is a 1970 Japanese film directed by Yoji Yamada. [1] Plot [ edit] The Kazami family live on the island of Iōjima, Nagasaki, where Seiichi Kamazi works in a coal mine. With the coal mine closing, Seiichi decides to move to Hokkaido and become a dairy farmer.

29 apr 2023 · Visto al Far East Film Festival 2023 in una splendida copia in 35 millimetri fornita da Shochiku, Where Spring Comes Late è il motivo per cui hanno ancora senso i festival, luoghi dove ci si può imbattere nella storia del cinema per capire qualora vi fossero dubbi con quanta forza anche oggi è in grado di parlare.

Where Spring Comes Late won Best Picture, Best Actor (Igawa), Best Actress (Baisho) and Best Director and Best Screenplay (Yamada) at the Kinema Junpo awards, Japan’s most prestigious film honors. Abroad, however, it has been overshadowed by both the Tora-san series and Yamada’s later work, including his 2002 drama The Twilight Samurai , winner of the Audience Award at Udine FEFF.
