About Wye College. Wye College was founded in the mid 15th Century by Cardinal John Kempe who was born at Olantigh, just outside Wye village. He was a classic example of the later medieval political prelate; becoming Bishops of Rochester, Chichester and London, and later Archbishop of York.

Our new Heritage Centre, which we hope will open in 2023/2024, will have a dedicated archive and research room to house the collection, allowing visitors and researchers to easily access information about the history of our village and Wye College.
22 ott 2020 · Wye Heritage was born in 2009 following the closure of Wye College. Rather unusually for a rural Kent village, Wye has been a centre of learning since 1447 and since 1894 home to the agriculture and horticulture college of the University of London.
