30 apr 2012 · Quite how Zastrozzi manages to balance this with his own atheism, I'm not sure, but it's a good story in all its gothic glorious gruesomeness and one I immensely enjoyed reading. Verezzi, the hero, is more heroine-like than anything - getting himself kidnapped and imprisoned in caves, and swooning and rending his hair at the first sign of trouble.

Avrei potuto intitolare questa riflessione Il romanzo gotico di Shelley, ma la maggior parte dei lettori avrebbe forse pensato a Frankestein o Il moderno Prometeo di Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin in Shelley.
