Each year, the program mentors eight filmmakers through the full production process of directing a short film from script to screen, with the support and guidance of classes taught by industry legends.

Laura has taught directing at USC’s Graduate School of Cinematic Arts, she is frequently a guest on craft panels, and currently teaches and mentors first and second-year fellows at AFI. Laura has participated in the CBS Director Program, the Disney Channel Multi-camera 360 Program and the inaugural DGA Director Development Initiative.

To prepare, I met with a directing fellow the weekend before to get a sense of what I would be asked, and she framed it as a "chill conversation".
