7 mag 2024 · The Church of the SubGenius is another parody religion satirizing more common religions. It was built on the philosophy of J.R. Dobbs, a salesman from the 1950s, who is viewed as a prophet. The religion wasn't founded by Dobbs but by a fan of his teachings, American writer and filmmaker Ivan Stang.
Bought the Book of the Subgenius in 1988, loved it, even owned a Bob shirt, but as I don't live in Dallas, was never able to participate personally. A pretty brilliant parody of evangelical and conspiracy culture.
