Callenberg Castle (Schloss Callenberg) is a schloss on a wooded hill in Beiersdorf, an Ortsteil of Coburg, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the town centre. It was a hunting lodge and summer residence and has long been the principal residence of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .

Calenberg Castle (Burg Calenberg) (later described as Schloss Calenberg and Feste Calenberg; ruins now called Alt Calenberg) was a medieval lowland castle (Niederungsburg). It was built in 1292 by the Welf duke, Otto the Strict in the Leine water meadows as a water castle on the southern part of the Calenberg.
We are delighted to have Castle Callenberg open all year for visitors to tour and explore. The castle hosts the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Family Foundation’s exhibition of ducal art treasures, as well as the fascinating German Shooting Association Museum.
